In this Satsang, Swamiji explains that Bhagavad Gita is a Yoga Shastra-a scientific treatise on Yoga. It conveys that any experience of the mind can be transformed into a Yogic perfection. Yoga is the state of union, of perfection where the mind, intelligence and ego get dissolved in the singular Consciousness.

In the sixth chapter, Sri Krishna speaks about the process of meditation. Initially he explains that the seeker must look for a secluded spot, sit in an Asana, sit erect, close his eyes, and try to focus on the mind. As an alternate to closing his eyes, he can also focus his attention on the tip of the nose. Dhyana must be practiced to purify the being. Although the physical aspect of meditation is spoken about, the real Sadhana in meditation is done by the mind and intelligence.

In Aparokshanubhuti, Shankaracharya speaks about the 15 elements for the seeker to practice, perfect, and finally realize. They are given to overwhelm the Yoga flair of people and to emphasize the Knowledge pursuit, Sadhana. Not getting distracted by the physical aspect of Yoga, a seeker must focus his attention on Jnana.

A seeker must practice Yama, which is the process of regulating the senses, by constantly thinking of Brahman. A seeker must cultivate good, noble thoughts and strive to remove the bad and disturbing thoughts. This regulation is Niyama. Living a life of restraint and regulation, the seeker must understand that all perceptions are within and that they are displayed in and by the Subject. He must renounce the separate objective status of the world and see that everything is an extension of his own mind. This is Tyaga or renunciation.

Shankaracharya says that Mouna (silence) is not physical or oral silence. When the seeker understands that the Consciousness is unreachable to the mind and speech, then his mind dissolves into silence. Swamiji explains that ‘Mouna’ is not physically keeping quiet, but realizing the unreachable nature of Brahman.
