This talk was held during 22 February 2024, as part of Jamshedpur Sadhana Shibiram 2024. In this enlightening talk, Swamiji speaks about Spirituality in Professional Life.

In this Satsang, Swamiji clears common misconceptions about spirituality and explains that spirituality enables one to live life happily, with a calm, stable mind, and clear and sharp intelligence. So, spirituality is important for everyone, functioning in walks of life.

What is spirituality? The whole of spirituality is about knowing our own real identity. When the aspirant looks within and begins the process of enquiry, he understands that there is a body-different entity within. So, the whole pursuit is to know one’s own real identity, Self.

By deep introspection and enquiry, the seeker also realizes that the ‘I’ is not different in different bodies. Normally, there is greed, anger, desire etc. in our personality, only because we think we are different from all others. But when the mind perceives the oneness, then the smallness of the personality is replaced by expansiveness. This discovery of the oneness in all the multiplicity, is the panacea for all individual as well as social problems.

The Upanishadic knowledge is meant for a select few, who have an exclusive interest in it. What about the masses? Bhagavad Gita presents the Sadhana that the masses can follow and attain the same Upanishadic goal. Sri Krishna prescribes Buddhi Yoga, where the intelligence is anchored in the real identity, while acting and interacting with the world around. By changing the mindset, by the yoga attitude, all activities can lead us to the ultimate goal of life. Instead of activities being a hindrance to Sadhana, they become an instrument to lead us to the supreme goal.

When one performs all work according to one’s own Svabhaava and according to the need of the hour, without the expectation of the resultant happiness, one gets filled with joy within. This Yoga buddhi will allow one to work from joy and not for joy at the end of the activity.

The Bhagavad Gita speaks about the Samatva yoga. A seeker must work with full dedication and excellence, but his mind must be in Samatva (equanimity). Initially, Samatva is having equanimity in success and failure. But as one progresses in Sadhana, Samatva is perceiving the same self in all.

Shlokas chanted in the Satsang:
6:40 - अक्षरं ब्रह्म परमं स्वभावोऽध्यात्ममुच्यते ….Bhagavad Gita 8.3
Bhagavad Gita 1.45
