Based on Ashtavakra Samhita, these talks were held during Malaysia Jnana Yajna 2013.
This talk was held on 12 August 2011.

In this Satsang, Swamiji takes up Ashtavakra Samhita, which is a sharp, precise and incisive text. Focusing exclusively on the Self, it takes a seeking mind to the inner hemisphere of one’s own personality.

The body is animated and activated by the sentience within. All experiences are in the sphere of the Self; everything is an extension of the Self and there is nothing other than the Self. In the Self, there is no ignorance or knowledge, bondage or liberation, creation or dissolution. All these imply change, but the self is changeless.

In Ashtavakra Samhita, King Janaka asks sage Ashtavakra how spiritual wisdom is gained, how liberation is had and how dispassion is gained. In reply, the sage says that a seeker must have the readiness to abandon all the objects of the world, considering them to be poison. Instead, he must cultivate the qualities of patience, straightforwardness, compassion, contentment and truthfulness. In order to know the Self, the mind should be equipped with the above qualities.

The Panchabhutas (the earth, water, air, fire and space) constitute the world around us. The text says: “The Panchabhutas are seen by you, they are not you. You are the sentient Atma, the Self, which is witnessing all the gross objects. Understand that you are the seer, observer, experiencer, and perceiver. You are the undying, unaffected, unchanging presence within.”

Knowledge is understanding oneself not to be the body but the inlying spiritual presence which is independent and unaffected. To attain liberation, one must realize the sentient presence within. Swamiji urges all listeners to introspect and seek the knowledge by which one becomes fulfilled and enlightened.
