The oldest among the Kurus, the Grandfather, the invincible Bheeshma roared like a lion and blew his conch, cheering up Duryodhana’s mind.
Bheeshma wanted to halt Duryodhana’s vituperation before his great teacher. He suddenly roared like a lion and blew his conch to delight Duryodhana. That was the most expedient means by which Duryodhana’s outpouring could be stopped forthwith.
The roar as well as the conch sound was a sure signal to commence the war. And instantly all in his army were obliged to raise their respective war cries in full enthusiasm and resolve. Duryodhana could no more linger on with his discourteous dialogue.
What a timely means of intercepting a mischievous design, diverting Duryodhana’s attention to the actual commencement of the war. Anywhere, discretion and prudence have their place, worth and advantage!
