Prabhata Rashmih - The Practice of Sadhana

Sublimate Raga and Dvesha

Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha

  • Sublimate Raga and Dvesha

    Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha

In this track, Swamiji deals with the subject of Spiritual Sadhana. A seeker must pursue the sadhana of removing all the wrong emotions and urges from the mind. The mind is usually motivated by Raga (clinging to what one likes) or Dvesha (hating what one dislikes).

A seeker should not allow his mind to be vitiated by either an undue love or an undue hatred. He must never do anything out of a greed or desire and must avoid strong likes and dislikes. With constant introspection one has to understand Raga-Dvesha and make it a practice to be free of their clutches.

Shlokas chanted in the Track:

रागद्वेषवियुक्तैस्तु विषयानिन्द्रियैश्चरन् ।
आत्मवश्यैर्विधेयात्मा प्रसादमधिगच्छति ।।

(Bhagavad Gita 2.64)
