How to Remove Differential Outlook

  • How to Remove Differential Outlook

    Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha

Poojya Swamiji speaks of the differential outlook that is constantly at work in all of us. Our entire life is a series of comparisons and contrasts. The earth produces so many different products, but we never get a thought of uniformity on the grounds that earth is the source of all. The same principle applies to secular and religious/spiritual things that we do, and this is called Bheda Buddhi.

We must train our mind to make every activity, every object equally divine. The world is born of God and therefore is Godly/Brahmic. We have an enlivened animated body, the livingness of which belongs to the soul. This Spiritual presence in us, Godliness in us makes us do all our activities.

Swamiji urges us to make no difference between the world and God and between God and us! The world is an object, but it is the subject ‘I’ that is manifest at every point of time. As we feel this, every activity begins to feel equally sublimating and elevating! There is nothing non-spiritual in our life and in our interactions. We must introspect on the subject presence that is in and through it all and only then we can overcome the differential outlook/bheda buddhi within us.
