In Srimad Bhagavatam, Sri Krishna tells Uddhava that the sense of differentiation between good and bad is itself bad, and transcending the two is necessary. In this talk, Swamiji tells us about the many practices to sublimate the difference.

One important exercise is Sankhya-Vichara, introspection. This, automatically, expands the vision, removing the constrictions of the mind and making it universal. Devotional practices, like offering flowers/fruits to the Lord, reading scriptures like Ramayana, Bhagavatam etc. are all practices to divinize our being. They help us to withdraw from external worldly indulgences and make our being more and more sattvik.

When one takes to divine practices with an aim to enhance Sattva-guna, then automatically Rajo-guna and Tamo Guna dwindle. Through partaking of sattvic food, through sattvic speaking, hearing, smelling, sattvik understanding, the seeker undergoes transformation in a faster, easier and thorough manner.
