Krishna takes up the level of the supreme Source of the whole creation and dissolution. This is in line with what he said earlier; he having instructed Sānkhya-yoga and Karma- yoga right in ancient times (3.3), again having imparted it to Vivaswan (4.1). The Self in everyone verily embodies such great dimensions, as It is eternal and all-pervading.

What he said as particular, he now describes as general – all beings as having sprung from the conjunction of lower and higher natures of the supreme Reality. In other words, the gross and subtle existences, external and internal dimensions and domains, mobile and immobile creations of the Universe, have all sprung from the Soul, which embodies the inferior and superior facets of Nature.

The sentient, insentient, gross and subtle constituents of the Universe have a single source, which as the progenitor, divides itself into two, to manifest the multifarious display called Creation. Creation and dissolution of everything is manifested by the infinite Soul within Itself.
