In this Satsang, Swamiji emphasizes that the focus of the 6th chapter of the Bhagavad Gita is Atma Samyama--restraint, discipline, and moderation of the senses, mind, and the intelligence. The practice of cultivating this is difficult because the mind is desultory by nature. Yet Sri Krishna gives an assurance that it is possible to restrain the mind by Abhyasa (persistent practice) and Vairagya (dispassion). For those who have cultivated restraint, moderation and discipline, yoga becomes easily attainable.
Arjuna asks Krishna: A seeker may have sincerely practiced Sadhana, but may not have attained the Yogic fruition before the body falls. What will be his plight? Krishna gives the assurance that diligent spiritual pursuit is never in vain. Such a seeker will be born in a virtuous and resourceful family or he
will be born in a family of Yogis. There, picking up the Yogic affinity, he will pursue the spiritual path, until he attains Yogic fruition.
Analyzing the question of Arjuna, Swamiji says that Krishna had already spoken about the eternal, unchanging Self in the second chapter of the Bhagavad Gita. If Arjuna had understood and imbibed the Truth about the unborn and undying Self, it was not necessary for him to raise the question about what happens when the body of a seeker falls.
