In this talk, Swamiji emphasizes that knowledge must be pursued by the intelligence constantly, exclusively, and intensely.

What happens when the supreme knowledge is realized? Sri Krishna says that when a seeker knows the Supreme Truth and is constantly identified with it, takes this knowledge pursuit as the singular pursuit considering it to be the most important, fulfilling and purifying, all the impurities are washed off. Intensely taking to this pursuit, when the seeker is able to overcome attractions, hatred and fear, then he becomes purified.

The final goal of spirituality is knowledge. This knowledge is not object knowledge, it is the knowledge of the Subject. What is the Ultimate Knowledge? Mandukya Upanishad says that it is neither the internal consciousness, nor the external consciousness, nor a combination of the two. It is not a simple consciousness, nor unconsciousness. It cannot be perceived by the senses; one cannot interact with it; it cannot be grasped by the mind or intelligence. It does not have any characteristics by which it can be identified. It is the only essence called Atma, which is denoted by the term ‘I.’ It is quiescent, auspicious, it is non-dual. This is the Self that is to be known.

Scriptures say that a seeker of Truth need not take to any external worship. He must strive to realize the Ultimate Truth (the ‘I’). He must completely identify with the ‘I’, rejoice in that alone and never fall from the Truth. This knowledge leads one to a state of fulfilment, ecstasy, and in this state one remains unaffected by the worst of the miseries of the world. Swamiji urges all listeners to take to this knowledge pursuit one-pointedly, wholesomely, and sincerely.
