Day 5 of 5-Day lecture series by Poojya Swamiji based on Bhagavad Gita during 58th Jamshedpur Jnana Yajna.
20 November 2024
CIRD Jamshedpur
In this concluding talk of the series, Swamiji emphasizes that objects of the world do not give permanent joy. To get permanent joy, one must look within, to the Self. The Self alone can give rise to contentment and permanent joy.
A man of stable wisdom and understanding is able to find contentment within, which comes from the stillness of the mind. In the meditative state, his mind and intelligence are stable and still. In the interactional hours also, the knowledge in his intelligence is steady and still. The meditative experience lingers in him in the form of understanding.
Such a man does not get agitated or troubled by misery and does not have a fascination for happiness. The man of steady knowledge is free of desire, hatred, or fear. Such a man does not restrict his love and fondness for his own family members; his mind is expansive. Neither does he get elated by auspicious events, nor does he resent unpleasant situations. His mind accepts both equally.
He performs all activities, without clinging, for the welfare of the society and the world. Content in his knowledge, he is content with whatever providence brings. He is forever blissful in the happiness he derives from within. He perceives the same Self as abiding in all beings and all beings as abiding in his Self. He sees the same Self everywhere, both in happiness and misery. Attaining this Supreme state, the Yogi is not disturbed or shaken by even the biggest calamities of life.
Swamiji concludes by saying that a seeker must always perform all activities with complete reliance on the Supreme. By this surrender, he will attain the eternal, imperishable abode.
