Ma Gurupriya ji's reflections on Poojya Swamiji's morning messages (Prabhata Rashmih)
Date: 09 May 2025
Venue: Vijnana Bhavan, Narayanashrama Tapovanam

Reading and elaborating on the ‘Prabhata Rashmih’- “Detachment—the only way to live well,” Ma explains that Vairagya (detachment) does not mean that a seeker must leave home and possessions. It only means abandoning attachment, possessiveness, and clinging to worldly objects.

Attachment is a self-created bondage. One becomes attached to the family, wealth, possessions, one’s own ideas and plans, and it becomes a source of agitation, anxiety, fear. It constricts the personality. The message of spirituality is that one must not become attached to anything.

Whenever one’s own composure is shaken, one must understand that there is attachment. Trees, rivers, plants (everything in nature), perform their respective duties naturally, without desires or expectations. It is for the seeker to introspect constantly and abandon attachment. The moment he starts cultivating detachment, the mind becomes free, light, and joyful.

Living in the world created by the Supreme Lord, working with the body created by God, one must do everything for the sake of the Lord alone. There must be a strong conviction and understanding that everything belongs to and is under the control of the Supreme Lord. Being steady in this understanding, one must do everything for the sake of the Lord alone.

A seeker can do all work as an offering to the Lord, for the sake of the Lord, only when he gives supreme place to the Lord in his life. Normally, we feel that the family, wealth, possessions, name, fame etc. are the supreme in life. Ma urges all listeners to remind themselves that God is the Supreme. The aim must be to perform all activities, while remembering that everything is done by God.
