Gurupoornima Retreat Sessions by Poojya Swamiji on Vivekachoodamani

In this session, explaining Vivekachudamani, Swamiji emphasizes that the Consciousness, Sentience, is very subtle. It cannot be grasped by the gross sense organs. It can be known only when the mind becomes quiet and calm and the intelligence becomes pure and subtle. It can be known when the mind is free of all thoughts, or any movement in the state of Samadhi.

Samadhi is possible only for those who have a high measure of dispassion. Only when grounded in dispassion, spiritual comprehension becomes stable, wholesome, and unshakeable. An aspirant of liberation must be endowed with the qualities of dispassion and discrimination to take him to the subtle dimensions of the Self.

Consciousness is all-pervading. Everything in creation is a manifestation and display of the Consciousness. When one realizes his own real identity, he is liberated and all his actions and interactions express his inner dimension. He has an equal vision and accepts all situations with poise and calmness. He may be adored and respected by noble people or he may be ridiculed by evil people, but he maintains an even vision.

Moving and interacting in the world, the knower will lend himself to various kinds of interactions. But he does not get subdued by anything. Possessed with the Knowledge of the Self, he is able to assimilate all interactional impacts. All objective impacts entering his mind become dissolved, not creating any agitation, conflict, or torment in him.
