Gurupoornima Retreat Sessions by Poojya Swamiji on Vivekachoodamani

In this talk, Swamiji explains the shlokas which describe the Consciousness, our own real identity. It is the one presence that is uniformly present in all the three states of wakefulness, sleep, and dream.

All objects like clay pots, clay pans etc., are made of clay alone. In the same manner, despite the variety of creation, the entire creation is the Consciousness alone. Waking up after a dream, one realizes that the dream was an illusion and it was unreal. In the same manner, the wakeful state is also illusory and unreal.

The ‘I’ is the only eternal factor, which is free of any name or form, which is beyond time and all objectivity. Through this constant introspection, the seeker must think: “I am the Supreme, non-dual Brahman.” He must strive to identify with the infinite, universal Consciousness.

Even in a knower of Truth, the latent tendencies and desires are powerful, deep, and beginningless. It makes him think that he is the doer, enjoyer etc. How to remove or reduce the impact of desires? A seeker must constantly and diligently identify with the Self, until the impact of the desires becomes powerless. The dropping of all desires is known as liberation.
