In this session, Swamiji explains why spirituality is essential in every facet of life. Spirituality helps a seeker to know the world as it is and know his own personality. It rids the mind of all possessiveness, clinging and intolerance. The spiritual path is a path of enquiry, adventure, and unfoldment.

Spirituality frees the mind of all future imaginations, expectations of happiness etc. It keeps the seeker grounded in the present in a wholesome manner, whereby he becomes equipped to work to his full potential, with excellence. A knower of Truth never indulges in the thoughts of the past, and never worries about the future. He lives in the present, his mind established in a lofty dimension.

Analyzing the human personality, Bhagavad Gita says that the senses are very powerful. But the senses cannot function without the cooperation of the mind. So, the mind is more powerful than the senses and the intelligence is superior to the mind. But there is presence within which is superior to the intelligence. By realizing that which is superior to the intelligence, one can win over the slavery to the world.

The Spiritual path is a journey which starts with the enquiry ‘who am I.’ This is a journey where the seeker attempts to discover his own real identity. When the inner dimension is known, the seeker gets released from the feeling of smallness, constrictions (which gives rise to desires, greed, competition etc.) He acts and interacts in the world remaining established in the Self. He works naturally, without selfishness, desires, or stress. Working with such an elevated mindset, life becomes comfortable, natural, and joyful for him.
