Venue: 250 Horsetail Fern Common Fremont CA 94539
Organised by Bay Area Hindus during Sadhana Shibiram USA 2022

In this Satsang, Swamiji speaks about Hinduism (Sanatana Dharma) and emphasizes that Hinduism is not a religion. It represents a whole culture and Civilization, which is based on the discovery of the Supreme Truth.

Ancient Rishis enquired into the inner realm of mind, intelligence, ego. By pursuing the enquiry, ‘Who am I,’ they discovered their real identity--the imperishable, changeless body-different presence within. By constant introspection and enquiry, they discovered that the source of eternal joy is our inmost presence, the Self.

Consciousness, which is imperishable, eternal, unchanging, is not part of the universe; it is beyond the cause-and-effect chain. It reveals the external universe and also the internal universe of mind, intelligence, and ego. The whole creation, which also contains our body-mind personality, is appearing in the Consciousness. This discovery was the greatest discovery of mankind and it freed the individual and the society from all problems.

This fundamental discovery of ‘unity in diversity’ is reflected in Indian art, music, religious codes, and culture. Scriptures speak about the ultimate state, where one sees the same Self everywhere, in everything equally. In the interactional level also, Sanatana Dharma prescribes a fundamental code, which can discipline one’s behavior- “Whatever you do not like to be done to you, you should not do to others.”

In the Q & A session following the talk, Swamiji urges the listeners to get rid of self-centeredness, by making the mind expansive, by thinking of others. Self-centeredness is a major hurdle in good performance of work. When one is free of that, the whole focus will be on excellent and joyful performance of the work. What is the pursuit of a seeker? Having discovered the Self in the meditative state, he must establish the same Self in the interactional state. He must incorporate the Atmic qualities of unaffectedness, impartiality, universality, impersonality etc. in his own personality.

Shlokas chanted in the Satsang:

41:21 - श्रूयतां धर्मसर्वस्वं श्रुत्वा चैवावधार्यताम्....

1:05:27 - नान्यं गुणेभ्य: कर्तारं यदा द्रष्टानुपश्यति...Bhagavad Gita 14.19
