Gurupoornima Retreat 2025

The aim of Tapas (austerity), Yajna (sacrifices), and Dana (sharing) is to purify the mind and intelligence. The Self is extremely subtle, and cannot be grasped by gross perceptions. It is only accessible to noble people with pure minds and a subtle intelligence.

In Vijnaana Nauka, the seeker reflects: ‘The Truth, which is attained by the purification of the intelligence through Tapas, Yajna, Dana etc., and by considering any position to be insignificant, and by abandoning the dependence or clinging to any object of the world, that Supreme Brahman, which transcends time, am I.’

‘That Truth, which is attained by taking refuge in the Guru who is an ocean of kindness, who is completely dedicated to Brahman, who is calm, by taking recourse to Dhyana and Nididhyasana, by singularly, exclusively, and unbrokenly thinking about the Ultimate Truth, that Supreme Brahman, which transcends time, am I.’

Swamiji emphasizes that the Guru has transcended all worldliness. He knows the essence of the scriptures and he is untouched by any kind of desires. He is wholesomely dedicated to the knowledge. Understanding the dimension of the Guru, the seeker must surrender to the Guru.
