Poornashram Yatra

(Sep 10 – Sep 19)

Ma offering flowers to the Guru Parampara before Pāda-poojā (Sep 12)

The Abode of Beloved Gurudev has an irresistible call and in September, Poojya Swamiji along with Ma Gurupriyaji travelled to Poornashram, delighting the hearts of Dakshinkhanda devotees. Brahmacharinis Nandita, Pranati and Rijuta Swaroopa as well as devotees from India and abroad also travelled to Poornashram.

The twilight hour when Poojya Swamiji arrived along with Ma, was surcharged with ululations of devotees welcoming them with garlands, ārati, and joyful chanting of ‘Om namaḥ sadā-śivāya’. Sonorous sounds of conches echoed as Poojya Swamiji and Ma were ushered on a beautiful pathway of flower petals to Baba’s Mandapam, where they paid homage to the Guru Parampara before proceeding to Baba’s Shrine room, the Holy Abode where Baba did decades of sadhana.

Pushpa-samarpanam and nāma-sankeertana are part of the daily routine in Poornashram throughout the year and continued in the presence of Poojya Swamiji and Ma.

Pāda-poojā was performed by Smt Swapna and Sow. Amrita.
Both had received deeksha from Poojya Swamiji in March this year.

Guru Archana:

On 12th was the first pratyaksha pāda-pūjā of Poojya Swamiji and the devotees chosen to offer the worship – Smt Swapna Mukherjee and Sow. Amrita Chakraborty, had both received deeksha from Poojya Swamiji earlier this year. Poojya Swamiji then gave his Benedictory address in Bengali, explaining how transformational was his meeting with Baba. It had led Poojya Swamiji to an inner abundance which enables him to declare to this day “I am nothing, I want nothing, I have nothing”. Around 200 villagers attended the bhakti-bhoj that followed.

Discourses:

Poojya Swamiji spoke on Śrīmad Bhāgavatam from 13th to 15th and on 18th to the audience comprising mostly of simple householder women given to pooja and worship. Explaining the story of Prahlada, Swamiji extolled the ideals of true devotion, how to practise it, and how it guides human life to fulfilment. On 16th and 17th, Ma also spoke to them choosing the initial portion of Śrīmad Bhāgavatam, relating to them how devotion should help them get rid of petty attributes like competitiveness, jealousy, anger, etc.

Children’s Dāna Satram in Sananda Dham Orphanage
near Dakshinkhanda (Sep 17)

Children’s Dāna-satram (Sept 17-18):

Durga pooja is a time when everyone, especially children receive new clothes. Learning of the many needy families in Dakshinkhanda, Poojya Swamiji expressed his wish to give clothes to poor children of the neighbourhood as well as the nearby orphanage. Devotees immediately procured clothes for 83 children of the Sananda Dham Anāthashram. On 17th, Poojya Swamiji, Ma and devotees visited the orphanage and lovingly gave the new dresses and prasad to the children. 34 mosquito-nets requested by retired School Principal Sri Amal Kumar Ghosh who runs the orphanage were also given.

The penultimate day of Poojya Swamiji’s visit started with the distribution of dresses to around 320 children. Ashramites and devotees had worked alongside Poojya Swamiji and Ma till 1.30 am the previous night to sort out the correct sizes for age groups ranging from 6 months to 14 years each for girls as well as boys. By 2 pm over 320 children had received clothes along with Cadbury chocolate bars – our hearts were overflowing and our stock was exhausted!

On 18th afternoon, soon after the children’s dāna satram, members of Ekal Vidyalaya, a non-profit organization dedicated to reach education to remote villages and underprivileged children through one-teacher schools (known as Ekal Vidyalayas) met Poojya Swamiji to take his blessings.

Concluding satsang (Sept 18):

Almost immediately after the meeting, the concluding satsang started around 7 pm. Poojya Swamiji chanted select verses, showing how devotion aims to expand and elevate the devotee’s mind. When asked whether they liked listening to these talks and found it beneficial, the assembled devotees eagerly nodded with joyful smiles. After prasada distribution, everybody was offered bhakti-bhoj on the first-floor Annakshetra. Nearly 220 people were fed in batches.

On 19th, Poojya Swamiji and Ma left for Ashram at 11 am and once again, all gathered took blessings from Swamiji and Ma and bade them farewell.

Swamini Ma Gurupriya has beautifully chronicled the sacred teerthayatra to Poornashram, undertaken between September 10 and 19, 2025, in two insightful articles.
