The Three Kinds of Knowledge

  • The Three Kinds of Knowledge

    Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha

In this talk, Swamiji, enlightens us about knowledge and the whole structure and treasure of knowledge.
Existence and knowledge can be divided into two categories- Object knowledge (bodily and external) and Subject knowledge (mind and internal)

There are three categories of knowledge–Pratyaksha (object knowledge gained by the senses), Paroksha (knowledge we get about the factors within the body. Here the mind and intelligence are used to infer things), Aparoksha (neither the senses nor the mind and intelligence work. This knowledge is called direct perception, direct realization!)

A seeker must take to meditation and introspect using the mind and intelligence, until at last, he shuts his own mind and intelligence also. Then, whatever experience he will have, will be of the ‘I’. I’ is the subject in us. It is the subject, not merely in our individual personality, it is equally the subject of the entire universe.
