Swamiji, through this Prabhata Rashmih, comprehensively explains what Sadhana is. Sadhana is the process of closely examining our mind and intelligence–their functions. It is a process of refining and moderating the mind, which can only be achieved by discrimination.

All interactions are initiated by the mind, they are sustained by the mind and finally get terminated in the mind. Sri Krishna, in the Bhagavad Gita provides Arjuna with a beautiful analysis of the human personality. He says that senses are superior to the objects, superior to the senses is the mind and the intelligence is still superior to the mind. The Self, which we refer to as the ‘ I ‘, is still superior to the intelligence. Thus, everything inward is far superior to the world and yet we get affected and afflicted by the world.

This mystery can be resolved only when one develops the habit of introspection and understanding that mind is the source, fulcrum and terminus of everything. The intelligence must examine the mind’s processes, reactions and responses and set them right. By activating the introspectional interaction, the emotional processes get sublimated and quietened. This is Sadhana.

Shlokas chanted in the Track:

इन्द्रियाणि पराण्याहुरिन्द्रियेभ्यः परं मनः ।
मनसस्तु परा बुद्धिर्यो बुद्धेः परतस्तु सः ।।

Bhagavad Gita 3.42
