Assimilation through Introspection

  • Assimilation through Introspection

    Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha

Swamiji says that all situations-pleasant and unpleasant–always tend to impact the mind. But the mind is capable of assimilating and digesting all the inputs from all interactions.

Mind’s potential is vast, and the afflictions are on a very surface level. It has the ability to dissolve whatever comes as an outcome of interactions. The mind’s afflictions and torments have to be removed by the mind itself. Initially it is a question of digesting the unpleasant notes. Thereafter it is a question of digesting the pleasant notes also and making sure that one does not get deluded or attracted to it.

Swamiji urges seekers to take to this inner sentient process. Once a seeker starts keenly observing the mental impacts and their assimilation by the mind, the time taken to assimilate an impact will gradually lessen. Slowly, the process of assimilation will become natural.

Shlokas chanted in the Track:

दुःखेष्वनुद्विग्नमनाः सुखेषु विगतस्पृहः ।
वीतरागभयक्रोधः स्थितधीर्मुनिरुच्यते ।।

Bhagavad Gita 2.56
