  • Avoiding Ego and Possessiveness is Very Easy

    Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha

In this track, Swamiji speaks about devotion and its practices, highlighting their sweetness and significance. He emphasizes that there is a blending of devotion and profound wisdom in scriptures like the Srimad Bhagavatam. A seeker must reflect on it. He must follow some simple practices like listening to devotional chants or songs.

Uddhava was grief-stricken on the thought of being separated from Sri Krishna. He confessed to Krishna that he was under the grip of ‘I’ness and ‘mine’ness. Introspecting on this, a seeker should avoid ego and possessiveness.

There must be a full understanding in the mind that the body has not been shaped by us. We are simply living in the body that has been given to us. In the same manner, one should do all activities with a feeling of non-doership, and not with clinging, attachment and desires.

Swamiji emphasizes that to overcome the feeling of ego and possesiveness is not at all difficult. It is a very natural feeling, provided one understands matters, thinks about them properly. When one is free of ego and possessiveness, he experiences freedom from the shackles of the mind and intelligence.

Shlokas Chanted in the Track:

(Srimad Bhagavatam 11.7.16)
