Use Your Intelligence to Evaluate Inherited Tendencies

In this Talk, Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha quotes from Bhagavad Gita Chapter 3 which states that all creatures are born with inherent and natural tendencies, so it is very difficult to restrain and correct them.

However, the human intelligence has the capacity to evaluate and correct these traits by self-effort, starting from not being a slave to the likes and dislikes through the sense organs. The robber Ratnakara, who completely transformed himself, by following the benedictory teachings of the Sapta Rishis and ultimately became Sage Valmiki.

On the other hand, Duryodhana, despite being constantly advised by wise people like Bheeshma, Drona, Kripa and even Krishna, refused to give up his evil tendencies, which led to terrible disaster. If an individual refuses to transform his inherent tendencies using his Paurusha, then the Society and Country’s Law will punish him accordingly for his misdeed.
