In this talk, Swamiji takes up the first verse of a set of shlokas very crucial for a spiritual seeker. These are the set of verses where Sri Krishna presents 20 qualities which together form true spiritual knowledge.

Swamiji delves deep into each quality and explains it with various examples. He makes it clear that these virtues and excellences are to be cultivated by a seeker of Self Knowledge.
As the qualities are imbibed, the mind becomes purer, expansive, peaceful and comes closer and closer to the Self.

Explaining each word of the verse, Swamiji elaborates how even serious seekers are deluded into thinking that they have a certain quality when such is not the case. Swamiji discusses the qualities of sublimation of pride, non-ostentation, non-hurting, tolerance, straight-forwardness, fondness and love for the teacher, cleanliness (inward and outward purity), stability and self-control.

Through his incisive analysis and explanation, Swamiji forces us to think about these qualities deeply and assess whether they are present in us and to what degree.

Shlokas Discussed: (13.7).
