01 – Eternal Relevance of Bhagavat Gita | Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha

5 Views | 1 year ago

This is a two-day online discourse delivered by Poojya Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha from Narayanashrama Tapovanam. It is a very powerful and comprehensive presentation on the eternal relevance of Bhagavad Gita in human life.

Narrating the background story of the Kurukshetra war and Arjuna’s refusal to fight the heinous war, Swamiji says that life is a battlefield where every moment we are fighting for our survival. Bhagavad Gita says that there is a dignified way of living, where likes and dislikes can be moderated, sublimated and assimilated.

Swamiji urges us to understand the fundamental message of Bhagavad Gita. He asks us neither to lament upon challenges of life nor show any inability to deal with them effectively. Every problem is created by the mind and the solution is generated by the intelligence. Being gifted with the mind and intelligence, Bhagavad Gita asks us to be stable, composed and self-seated.

Handling the discomfiture of Arjuna’s mind, Krishna exposed him to the inner soul dimension and elevated his mind. The Self is the changeless and eternal existence. Swamiji emphasizes that this understanding is the solution to all problems, challenges and persecutions of life. For everything, the strength, inspiration and enlightenment should come from within. Swamiji urges the listeners to deeply introspect on the message of Bhagavad Gita and discover the Truth themselves.
